Liverpool woes continue

12 Apr

This message is directed at Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Oh, and Ryan Babel too.

Fernando, oh Fernando, wherefore art thou Fernando?  Boy, did Liverpool miss you in Sunday’s miserable 0-0 draw with Fulham.  Despite completely dominating the game, Liverpool failed to find the back of the net.  Torres’ replacement, David N’Gog, clearly lacks the pace and power of his teammate.  Ryan Babel also whiffed at a shot early on approximately six inches from the goal (How do you miss that?!).  Midfielder Alberto Aquilani got the start over Lucas today and he’s the one that ended up with some of Liverpool’s best chances.  Fulham goalie Mark Schwarzer played a very solid game, making six saves.

Unless Manchester City seriously loses the plot, fourth is all but a dream for Liverpool now.  City has 62 points, Tottenham’s at 58 and Liverpool has 56.  The draws against Birmingham and Fulham were absolute killers.  If Liverpool won both those games, they’d be sitting at 60 points.  Ugh.  Well, can’t change the past.

Torres is seeing a specialist today about a knee injury, thus why he didn’t feature on Sunday.  Hopefully it’s nothing too serious as he already missed a month of the season due to a knee injury.  At this point, there’s really nothing to gain from risking injured players, so you might as well try to get your main man healthy.

In other cringeworthy news, Liverpool is set to announce a Chelsea season-ticket holder as club chairman.  Martin Broughton is the chairman of British Airways and it is thought that he will be able to help find new owners for the team.  I would like to apologize to Liverpool fans on behalf of America for the dumbass owners you have.  I swear we aren’t all that stupid.  Tom Hicks and George Gillett have also tabbed Barclays Capital as part of a refinancing deal that will hopefully lead to the club’s sale to people that don’t completely suck.
