Last two Champions League semi spots up for grabs

7 Apr

Bordeaux will host Lyon and Manchester United will host Bayern Munich as the teams fight to join Barcelona and Inter in the Champions League semifinals.  Lyon holds a 3-1 edge after winning the first leg, but they will be without two-goal performer Lisandro, who is suspended.  Lyon will also be missing forward Sidney Govou.  It’s unclear whether Bordeaux will be missing their starting keeper Cedric Carasso, who picked up a groin injury.  Meanwhile, Wayne Rooney has been ruled out of the today’s clash with Bayern. United struggled at the weekend in a loss to Chelsea without Rooney leading the charge.  It will be interesting to see if anyone can step up and fill his shoes.   UPDATE: Apparently, Rooney is healthy enough to play as he has started for United.  Yeah, out for three weeks, good one.  The German side holds a slim 2-1 lead, thanks to a late goal from Ivica Olic in the first leg.  Bayern welcomes back Bastian Schweinsteiger, who missed the first leg due to suspension and Arjen Robben, who is fit after returning from injury.
