Messi owns Arsenal, Inter advances

6 Apr

Arsenal pretty much shut down Lionel Messi last week. Today? Not so much. Messi scored FOUR goals to lead Barcelona to a 4-1 win (6-3 on aggregate) and a spot in the Champions League semifinals. (No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4).  I know I’ve said it before, but damn, he is awesome.  (Best tweet about Messi: @ZombieJaqua Messi could score at a celibacy convention.)  Messi scored his first three goals in a 21-minute span in the first half and added the fourth late in the second half just for good measure.  It was his fourth hat trick of 2010.  I think we might have an early leader for player of the year.

Now, it’s up to Inter to devise a plan to stop the Argentine powerhouse.  Inter claimed a 1-0 win over CSKA Moskva earlier today to book their spot in the semis (2-0 on aggregate), thanks to an early goal from Wesley Sneijder.
