Champions League quarterfinal spots on the line

16 Mar

Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge today as Inter Milan tries to book a spot in the final eight of Champions League.  Inter is gunning to get out of the round of 16 for the first time in three years as they have been knocked out by English clubs the last two.  Chelsea has been rather formidable at home this year and only needs a 1-0 win to advance, despite dropping the first leg 2-1 in Italy.  Inter better watch out for Didier Drogba, who has been known to come up big in Champions League games.

In the other match today, Sevilla plays host to CSKA Moskva.  Sevilla holds a slim edge after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Russia.  Sevilla has won six of their seven home Champions League matches this year, but if the first leg is anything to go back, this should be another hard-fought affair.

While the Sevilla/CSKA game should be a good one, the game everyone wants to see is the Chelsea/Inter clash. And of course, Fox Soccer is not showing that one live. You can watch it online for $9.95 at UEFA.com or just find somewhere totally legal (wink, wink) to watch it online for free. And if you just want words to describe the action, there’s always the match tracker on Yahoo!  It’s unfortunate that ESPN stopped broadcasting Champions League because let’s be honest here, everything is better in HD and unless you are very lucky, you most likely don’t have FSC in HD.  Also, with ESPN’s multitude of channels, they were able to show everything live, which in this day and age, should be a requirement for all sports content.

TV Schedule
Sevilla vs. CSKA – 3:30 p.m. ET/Fox Soccer (Live)
Chelsea vs. Inter – 6 p.m. ET/Fox Soccer (Delayed)
