Liverpool give it up late again

16 Jan

Once again, Liverpool looked set to take a 1-0 victory in today’s game against Stoke, but the Potters rallied for an 89th minute equalizer from Robert Huth to earn a 1-1 draw. It’s the second time in a week the Reds have given up a late tying goal. This was a game they desperately needed to win, but once again, lackluster defending came back to bite them in the ass. Dirk Kuyt had a chance to grab a winner in stoppage time, but his header went off the post.

It would have been quite the morale-booster/relief if Liverpool had been able to win after the embarassing midweek loss to Reading. The team is still seventh in the table, but if they continue to play like they did today, they won’t win many more games. Liverpool’s ball control was atrocious; they couldn’t string together three passes in a row all day.
