Owen signs with Manchester United

3 Jul

Striker Michael Owen has signed a two-year deal with Manchester United.  Owen joins MU after an injury plagued stint with Newcastle United.  The former Liverpool striker is seventh on the Premier League’s all-time scoring charts with 144 goals, but has net just 30 in his four years with Newcastle.

This makes me very sad because Michael Owen is the original reason I started following Liverpool over ten years ago.  He broke onto the scene at the 1998 World Cup, dazzling the world with a sick goal against Argentina.  Sigh, and now he’s playing for that team I dislike so much.
